CHEAPER DIESEL- A REQUEST FOR HELP

I recently attended the National Motorhome Show at Peterborough
and found the variance in fuel prices quite marked.

I discovered that there was approximately 15 to 20 pence per litre of a price
difference between the most expensive service stations,
(usually on the motorway) and the cheapest, (usually to be found in superstores).

This amounts to a big difference if you are filling your tank!

It occurred to me that we have a wealth of local information, within our membership,
regarding cheaper fuel prices, the length and breadth of the country.

Each area has it’s cheaper filling stations/supermarkets,
not far from the major motorways/trunk roads. It’s just about knowing where to find them.

Having discussed this issue with Mick and James the webmaster, it has been agreed that we make a request of the club membership, to help identify the cheapest fuel providers, close to the main arterial routes and we will compile a list on the website, for the entire membership to benefit from.

This list can also be reproduced in the club magazine for those who do not use the internet.

If members would care to forward details to myself, in the first instance at
I will ensure that the information gets onto the website.

It only requires a brief couple of lines description e.g.

Bridge of Dee, Aberdeen – Asda Supermarket, 24 hour fuel available, approximately 300 metres from A90 at south entrance to city. (Post Codes would also help, if available for sat navs).

Obviously the filing stations will have to be suitable for a motorhomes length and height requirements.

I don’t see the price of fuel tumbling any time soon, so any savings have to be to the benefit of us all.

Thanking you all in anticipation,

Neil Watt
